Mayalu Organic Agriculture Farm & Research Center is the family’s land in the Chitwan lowlands. The holding has been with the family for about fifteen years. Organic practice is newer — about four.
The fields come to something close to four hectares in all. Some of that sits nearer the stream. The gold line on the pictures below is only a patch we watch from satellites — not a survey of the whole farm, and not every parcel by the water.

Pull the bar or tap ‹ ›. The farm photo moves with the date, as do greenness and wetness. These are clear-sky satellite days — usually a couple of weeks apart, not every week. Ten to thirty metres a pixel, not a drone. Staff can open the full field page in Nepali.
These figures are from public weather and soil maps, plus farm-mean satellite readings on the patch we watch. They are not a soil-test report and they cannot prove that organic practice changed the field.

Open-Meteo / ERA5-family weather at the pin, 2010–2025: about 1,880 mm of rain in an average year, of which ~87% falls June–September (July ~570 mm, August ~480 mm). November–February are almost dry (a few millimetres a month). Mean temperature ~24 °C; the record span in this series is about 10–33 °C. This is a large weather cell, not a gauge in the field.
ISRIC SoilGrids 2.0 at 250 m — one cell is about six hectares, so it smudges the whole holding into a single hint. Topsoil reads as a sandy loam / loam — about 45% sand, 34% silt, 21% clay — with pH ~6.2, organic carbon ~19 g/kg in the first 5 cm (falling with depth), and CEC ~15 cmol/kg. That texture drains faster than heavy clay and holds less water through the dry months. It is not N, P, K, or a lab organic-matter test. Replace it with pits and a local analysis before changing fertiliser or lime.
Sentinel-2 NDVI, mean over the watched patch, clear days. Lowest in winter (January ~0.39), rising through spring, highest when monsoon clouds part (September ~0.74). July–September have few clear pictures, so those peaks rest on a thin sample. Trust the farm-wide number, not a single pixel.
The moisture index (NDMI, 20 m) is dry in February–March (mean below zero) and wettest in September (~0.20). It tracks canopy and surface wetness, not a soil probe. Radar on the watched patch almost never flags standing water (mean < 0.1% of those pixels). Land closer to the Rapti could read differently.
Pre-organic and organic-period NDVI means are close and are not evidence that management caused a change. Crop mix, irrigation, monsoon gaps, and the sensor all move the number.
